Parents Need to Educate Children About Alcoholism

Parents Need to Educate Children About AlcoholismExcess of alcoholism is a complex problem that is seeping into New Zealand and afflicting the youth of the nation.

According to Alcohol Advisory Council, the concept of drinking is deep rooted in the culture and continues to be a passion right from the Anglo Saxon age followed by 1950s popular pub culture. The teenagers get adapted to the habit after getting influenced either by their parents, friends or out of peer pressure.

The change is not easy, but certain measures can result in improving the situation than before. Parents were under a misconception that, if they were drunk their children would understand their situation and would not drift towards alcoholism. The parents need to talk with their children over the issue. A casual conversation with the teenage children can at least make them grow as responsible drinkers of the nation.

It is the parents who need to work on sketching out a safe and healthy life for children and guide them to the right path. Parents cannot expect their children in teens to leave alcoholism completely, but they can be taught how they could enjoy consuming alcohol in a limited way.

Apart from parents, the government needs to impose tax on the sugary beverages which constitute a small amount of alcohol that attracts children the most and gives way to accessing the alcohol.
