A woman fulfilled her dream to arrive at her wedding in a classic Porsche by building her own from a wrecked Volkswagen Beetle.
Megan Ashton, a 26-year-old Royal Navy engineer, spent six years and £4,000 to transform a £200 wrecked Volkswagen Beetle into a spectacular Porsche 356.
The spectacular vehicle now features a 356 body shell, a white leather interior with a mahogany finish, an authentic steering wheel and speedometer.
Rebuilt virtually from scratch, the vehicle has an impressive top speed of more than 100mph, and is valued at £25,000.
After the ceremony at Sandhurst military academy in Surrey, Megan Ashton’s new husband took the wheel to drive them to their reception.
Expressing happiness over fulfillment of her dream, Megan said, “I loved every minute of it and it was such a special moment to be able to pull up on my wedding day in it.”
The original Porsche 356 was designed by Ferdinand Porsche, son of Porsche founder Dr. Ing Ferdinand Porsche, who is well-known for creating Volkswagen Beetle.
