UK-based new ISP Hyperoptic has promised to bring affordable fibre optic broadband directly to consumers.
Formed earlier this year by Boris Ivanovic and Dana Pressman Tobak, former employees of Be Broadband, Hyperoptic has already launched a new 1Gbps broadband service to certain areas in London.
Hyperoptic is the first ISP in the country to offer upload as well as download speeds of up to 1Gbps (1000Mbps) by deploying fibre directly to the premise. The fastest available broadband currently is Virgin Media's up to
100Mbps cable service.
However at this time, individuals can’t sign up for Hyperoptic's service as only communal installations in multi-dwelling buildings are possible.
Hyperoptic has priced its broadband services comparatively low to make them affordable for one and all. Speaking about pricing, Dana Tobak said, “Our pricing shows that the power of tomorrow can be delivered at a competitive and affordable rate.”
A 20Mbps connection has been priced at only £12.50 a month, while a 100Mbps connection costs £25 a month. The fastest service, 1Gbps connection, will be available for £50 a month.
