Megan Ashton's wedding became a star attraction when she arrived at her wedding in a classic Porsche she built herself.
Twenty-six-year-old Royal Navy engineer had a dream to arrive at her wedding in a Porsche 356, but unable to buy the expensive vehicle, she transformed a wrecked Volkswagen Beetle into a stunning Porsche 356.
She purchased a 40-year-old Volkswagen Beetle wreck for merely £200 and stripped it down to the chassis. Then, she re-built it virtually from scratch by spending £4,000 and devoting six years of her life.
Megan Ashton's classic Porsche now features a 356 body shell, white leather interior boasting of a mahogany finish, a reliable steering wheel and speedometer. The vehicle, which is valued at £25,000, has an impressive top speed of more than 100mph.
Speaking about her classic Porsche, she said, "It was a close-run thing getting the car finished in the end, but after six years it was well worth it."
Following the ceremony at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in Surrey, Megan's new husband took the wheel to drive them to their reception.
