South Korea-based electronics firm Samsung has launched a premium app store in the UK for Android users that will eventually allow users to download apps and pay via mobile phone bills.
Anyone who signs up to Samsung’s apps store for Android will be able to access a whole host of free as well as premium apps.
Samsung’s premium app store allows users of Android devices to access high end content, including games like that of Zenonia, Need for Speed Shift HD, 9mm and The Sims 3 HD.
At present, credit card is the only option to pay for purchasing apps; however, the company has plans to add charges onto users’ phone bills or to deduce charges from their SIM card balance.
Mobile managing director Simon Stanford, for Samsung UK & Ireland, said that they would keep on developing the premium service to provide customers with access to all the latest grand content on Android.
Speaking on the launch of the new app store, Stanford said, “In the spirit of providing Android users with the best possible mobile experience, it is our intention to continue to develop this premium service to ensure our customers have access to all the latest great content on Android.”
Meanwhile, Eric Anderson, vice president of content for Samsung Electronics America, has claimed that Samsung Apps has become the most popular TV Apps platform across the industry, with as many as 900 apps available globally and around 10 million downloads up till now.
