New York City is all set to host its first annual Honey Festival on Saturday, September 17th, at the Rockaway Boardwalk in Queens.
Organized by the Bedfordshire Beekeepers Association, the Honey Festival will provide visitors with a rare chance to meet beekeepers and experts to gain knowledge about everything related to honey and honeybees.
While beekeepers will be selling their wares, workshops will be held to raise awareness about bees, and there will be a honey-themed launch. In addition, visitors will be able to enjoy tasting competition.
Organizers said a honey festival is a typical thing to discover in New England or any small town of the country.
Brooklyn Garage’s chief beekeeper Chase Emmons said New York needed its own version of a honey festival as beekeeping had become legalized.
As per Emmons estimates, there are more than 500 beekeepers in the New York City. It may be noted here that the New York City authorities legalized tending beehives in March last year.
