Earlier in 2009-2010, authorities permitted the manufacturing of vaccine Pandemrix in order to deal with the rapidly growing incidences of swine flu. However a majority of parents pinpointed the vaccination for causing episodes of narcolepsy in their kids. Narcolepsy is a condition where the sufferer falls asleep suddenly.
As per the reports, not less than 33 kids have developed the disorder as soon as they received Pandemrix dose.
Consequently, a parent from Rathgar, Dublin, Mairead Lawless, claimed that her 6-year-old son, Alex, had developed narcolepsy as he availed the vaccination and started to sleep throughout the afternoon rather than performing other activities. Further, Ms. Lawless said: "Many of these children also suffer from cataplexy which is a condition that causes loss of all muscular control and postural tone -- collapse brought on by heightened emotion”.
Meanwhile, the complaining group was directed to the Health Service Executive along with a suggestion to lodge application for medical cards. However, sources revealed that only one family has acknowledged the card till now.
A meeting regarding the issue is scheduled to be observed tomorrow at Bewley's, Newlands Cross, from 2:30 onwards.
