Health Minister David Anderson announced about a new surgeon employed as the breast cancer specialist. The female surgeon is an expert in oncoplastic breast and general operations is expected to join the office by the start of the coming year.
The appointment has been a debating issue among the authorities of the Department of Health. The employment was opposed by many, because they feared that the move will result in deteriorating the breast cancer care service in the region.

As per Mr. Anderson, "The new consultant's CV and past experience is highly impressive and I believe they will bring a great deal to the post, to the team at Noble's Hospital and to the people of the Isle of Man”.
Also, Jan Brooks, President of Breakthrough Breast Cancer Isle of Man, supported the selection and stated that the measure will surely improve the breast cancer care services in the region, as the surgeon will provide with advanced treatment and preventive measures for the disease.
