The government has been anxious over the Labour‘s plan regarding the rejuvenation of Christchurch as it does not involve the whole scenario.
Prime Minister John Key stated that the Labour’s policy plan is to provide 1500 new sections to the victims of the earthquake which would be quite inexpensive. He added that this would add to the complexity of the situation as number of affected cases are much more than the homes Labour’s will be providing, so the situation will become worse as it would be difficult to decide that who would be given the allotment.
Mr. Key stated that the policy package of Labour party would prove out to be quite expensive and would mean issuing blank cheque.
Earlier, Labour leader Phil Goff announced that if his party won the elections, he would be developing cheap homes for victims of the earthquake, who had gone homeless after the incident. He also stated that the government should interfere in the insurance schemes to provide assistance to the needy people. He said that his party will intervene in the matters to ensure Christchurch’s recovery.
"Business as usual won't cut it. These are extraordinary times and the Government must act accordingly", he added.
