Google has finally rolled out the European version of its Voice Actions for Android, allowing users to direct their handsets and tablets just by voice commands.
Users can now perform a number of actions by just speaking to the phone. They can verbally direct their devices to send text messages, make phone calls, access websites, play music, and take down notes.
Announcing the release of the European version of the Voice Actions app for Android, the internet search giant said, “Today, we're pleased to announce that users in the UK, France, Italy, Germany and Spain can now use Voice Actions in.”
Google explained that Voice Actions app can be activated by tapping the microphone button on Google search box on the home-screen of the device, or by pressing down the physical search button on the device for a few seconds to activate the “Speak Now” screen.
Thus far, anyone desired to make use of the feature had to affect an American accent to enable the phone to recognize the verbal direction.
The Voice Actions for Android app is available for handsets and tablets based on Android OS 2.2 or higher. The app has been available to smartphone users in the United States for more than a year.
