Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS – for consumers as well as enterprises

Windows8Going by the details that Microsoft provided about the new version – Windows 8 – of the company’s operating system at BUILD conference, it appears that, for a number of reasons, Windows 8 will not only be meaningful buy for the consumers, but will also seemingly be an enterprise winner!

From the point of view of the consumers, Windows 8 OS - scheduled for release in 2012 – will, as per the Microsoft claims, feature a neat new interface; run exceedingly well on tablet computers, and offer improved security.

In fact, since PC vendors will, like they have been in the past, ship Windows 8 with the newest models of their PCs, consumers will clearly have no choice other than running the forthcoming OS when they next purchase a computer.

In comparison, even though enterprises will have the option of either using Windows 8 or giving it a miss and continuing with their present OS, industry watchers are of the opinion that the reaction of the enterprises to the new OS will be quite upbeat --- more so as some of them are still using Windows XP and would be willing to wait till next year to all new Windows 8-equipped computers for their businesses.

Moreover, with Microsoft displaying at the conference that, despite its new look and feel, Windows 8 is actually fairly easily turns into the classic desktop-style which the employees are familiar with. And, to top it all, Windows 8 will, as per Microsoft, not be a drain on the productivity of the enterprises!
