Publisher THQ on Tuesday announced that the team behind Electronic Arts action series Crysis, the Crytek studio, will develop the follow-up to the first-person shooter Homefront that was released in earlier this year.
The release of the yet-to-be-named follow-up to the original Homefront is slated for THQ's fiscal year 2014 on PCs and games consoles.
Homefront, which was released in March on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, captivated gamers around the globe with its unique setting and storyline.
THQ Core Games' EVP Danny Bilson said that they were confident that the follow-up to the original title would also deliver supreme-quality experience to gamers.
Making the announcement, Bilson said, "Selecting Crytek to take Homefront forward underscores our strategy of working with the industry's best talent."
The original Homefront feature an America fallen in 2027 following 15 years of economic meltdown and worldwide conflict over declining natural resources. United Korea invades the USA, and unleashes an oppressive reign over the west.
