Facebook has announced changes to its news feed to allow users to follow their friends' updates in real-time.
Top Stories and Most Recent newsfeed tabs have been merged into one long rolling ticker that will appear regardless of where the user is on the site.
All news stories will be available in a single stream, with the most attention-grabbing stories at the top. The users of the site will see either the most recent stories or the top stories when they will visit the homepage.
If a user accesses the Facebook homepage many times in a day, he/she will see new stuff at the top, but if he/she visits the site once a week/month he/she will see the top news from friends and relative.
Speaking about the enhanced news feed feature, "Facebook Engineering Manager Mark Tonkelowich said "Now, News Feed will act more like your own personal newspaper. You won't have to worry about missing important stuff."
Facebook is busy in enhancing its service by introducing new features as it is facing tougher competition from rival social networking platform Google+, which newly moved into beta.
Meanwhile, reports are emerging that Facebook will use its upcoming f8 developer confab to announce new partnerships with film and music industries.
