Crytek UK, the team behind the Crysis series, will handle the development of the follow-up to the first-person shooter Homefront, THQ boss Danny Bilson announced.
THQ has hired Crytek UK after the closure of the New York-based Kaos Studio, which had created the original title.
Speaking the partnership between THQ and Crytek, Bilson said, "Selecting Crytek to take Homefront forward underscores our strategy of working with the industry's best talent."
The unique setting and storyline of original Homefront was released in March this year on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC captivated gamers around the world. It is set in 2027 when America succumbs to long-drawn economic slump and global conflict over depleting natural resources. A united Korea invades the US, and establishes a tyrannical reign over the west.
Crytek UK, which was previously called TimeSplitters, will use CryEngine 3 in the creation of the follow up to Homefront.
The Homefront 2 will be released on PC and games consoles in the publisher's fiscal year of 2014.
