HTC will definitely defeat Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple in its ongoing legal battle over patent infringements, HTC North Asia President Jack Tong said.
In a press conference at a Seoul hotel in South Korea, Mr. Tong said, “We have no question that HTC will definitely win. HTC is waiting for a final ruling from the U. S. International Trade Commission (USITC) and the ruling will be on our side.”
The Taiwan-based Asia’s No. 2 smartphone maker has filed a lawsuit against Apple in a federal court in Delaware, claiming that the iPhone-maker has infringed on its four patents.
HTC said it obtained the patents from Google. It may be noted here that the patents in question were originally issued to Motorola, but they fell in the hands of Google after it acquired Motorola Mobility.
US trade agency ITC is presently reviewing HTC’s claim over patent infringement by the Cupertino firm.
In case ITC decides in favor of HTC, it could affect the Samsung/Apple case on Samsung’s side.
It is worth mentioning here that HTC’s forceful stance against Apple will be helpful to ‘Google alliance, the companies Samsung Electronics that are also fighting patent suits against Apple in several countries across the globe.
