Nursing Cuts Would Jeopardize Patients’ Health: Survey

 SurveyA survey has notified that 75% of the nurses feel that scarcity of nursing staff results in poor health of patients. The survey has also revealed dire attitude of co-workers and insufficient expertise also jeopardizing life of patients.

Also, one third of the nursing staff feels that inadequate facilities and services also put the life of the patients at danger. The survey has been conducted after the declaration of thousands of jobs that would be facing cuts in the near future.

Nearly 600 nurses were inquired in the survey and one third of the respondents notified that the most important concern for them was the weakening health of their patients and even drug errors, trips, slips, and falls and insufficient nutrition and hydration are the areas to be concerned about.

Nearly 4% of the nurses are worried about the wrong treatment provided to the patients that could result in their lethal condition.

Royal College of Nursing Chief Executive and General Secretary Dr. Peter Carter stated that nearly 40,000 nursing jobs will be axed in order to save money but actually, it would result in deteriorating the health of patients requiring close care.
