Facebook’s chief defends site’s new redesign

Facebook’s chief defends site’s new redesignFacebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg defended the social networking site's new redesign, soon after the launch of new features.

The social network introduced new features like that of Timeline and Ticker, along with other features that focus on the way users listen to music and watch TV.

Timeline replaces the customary Facebook profile and lets users to create a sort of digital scrapbook, which can contain information, photos and videos dating back event to pre-Internet days.

During a press conference, reporters asked Facebook executives to predict the number of users who would not like the new changes. Responding to the question, Zuckerberg said, "The recent update with the news feed and ticker, we've actually been testing that with people for months. we brought a lot of people into the office, to get their feedback."

Zuckerberg added that everyone would be able to exercise complete control as none of the new functionality would be added until a user chooses to add them.

Facebook currently dominates the field of social networking, with more than 750 million users worldwide; but it is busy in introducing new features in order to shrug-off escalating competition from rivals like Google+.
