The development of insulin resistance and glucose intolerance can apparently be held back in patients suffering from Type 2 diabetes, with the help of an over-the-counter dietary supplement!
According to the findings of a new research carried out by the researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), when a person develops insulin resistance and glucose intolerance, it generally is a clear indication of Type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome, which an over-the-counter dietary supplement can seemingly slow down.
As per the information shared by the UCLA researchers, the conclusions were based on results of a test in which GABA - a naturally-produced molecule that resembles amino acid - was given orally to overweight as well as insulin-resistant mice which were in the early stages of Type 2 diabetes.
Going by the early pre-clinical study, it has been found that the GABA was effective in restraining the inflammatory immune responses that are chiefly involved in the development of the insulin resistance and glucose intolerance - the pointers to Type 2 diabetes.
In addition, the researchers also found that GABA could also help avert the progression of Type 2 diabetes, as well as bring about a notable improvement in glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, even after the mice had started showing signs of the onset of Type 2 diabetes!
