Long Wait for New Mental Health Unit Will Be Over Soon

Mental-Health-HospitalLong wait seems to over soon as the Toldo Mental Health Hospital and Outpatient Clinic will soon open to serve people in the region with the best mental health facility.

Inaugurated on Thursday, Toldo Mental Health Hospital and Outpatient Clinic is situated in the Western campus of Windsor Regional Hospital and will be initially serving with the 65 beds that were badly needed in the region in order to keep all the area patients closer to their homes.

"The best thing about this is it's bringing patients home where they belong. Right now, patients who need specialized mental health services have to go to London to get them. So they have to leave their family, leave their home, the family has to travel up the 401 to go see them," Hospital President Mr. David Musyj said during a tour of the facility.

The new facility is a modernly constructed two-storey and 75,000-square-foot building, which has included a cost of $60 million to get the right shape. Bright inside and more like a condo complex, the hospital will also facilitate the patients with residential rooms designed for safety, an atrium and the John Tregaskiss Family Healing Garden.

The Toldo Mental Health Hospital will be welcoming its first patient on Nov. 15.
