Internet is awash with reports that online retailer Amazon could unveil its much-anticipated Kindle tablet on Wednesday next week.
While the Seattle-based retailer hasn't announced any plan to unveil its potential tablet, the Kindle tablet is widely expected to emerge on September 28, the date selected by the retailer for a big press conference.
MG Siegler of technology site TechCrunch claims that Amazon's 7-inch tablet will just be another Kindle, but it will feature a touchscreen and run Google's popular operating system, Android.
Amazon's potential tablet is being seen as strong rival to Apple's iPad, which currently dominates the global tablet market.
Last year Apple enjoyed 83 per cent of the global tablet market. This year, the iPad is expected to report 73.4 per cent of global media tablet sales. Analysts believe that Apple iPad will continue to dominate the market until 2014.
Research firm Gartner says, "We expect Apple to maintain a market share lead throughout our forecast period by commanding more than 50 per cent of the market until 2014."
While Apple iPad starts at $499, Amazon's Kindle tablet will cost considerably lower at around $250, a recent report by TechCrunch claims.
The Kindle tablet is expected to be released sometime near November this year, in time for the holiday shopping season.
