Famed F1 designer Gordon Murray has unveiled a new prototype electric sports car, dubbed TEEWAVE AR1, which has been designed in partnership with Toray Industries.
Built from carbon fiber, the TEEWAVE AR1 is considerably light-weight car at merely 850 kilograms. Thus, it outshines its most obvious competitors, such as the Tesla Roadster, at least when it comes to weight.
The new sports car draws power from a lithium-ion battery, and is capable of sprinting from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 11.4 seconds. Top speed has been mentioned at 147 kilometers per hour.
The car has been fitted with a 63hp electric motor which drives the rear wheels. The battery consumes six hours to get recharged, and offers a driving range of more than 186 kilometers.
Built using the iStream manufacturing process, the project aims to hack the cost and enhance the efficiency of vehicle manufacturing.
Earlier, Gordon Murray designed the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, and F1 racecars for Brabham as well as McLaren.
