AMA Not Happy With Pharmacists Recommending Dietary Supplements

MedicalAs per recent information, it has been reported that the Australian Medical Association (AMA) has objected an agreement inked between pharmacists and a major vitamin manufacturing firm to endorse diet supplements by satisfying prescriptions for users.

In this regard, the Pharmacy Guild of Australia (PGA) has consented on recommending an assortment of “Blackmores” artifact while serving consumers with recommendations for definite health circumstances.

It has been revealed that a computerized program will be used to help pharmacists suggest four ‘Blackmores’ dietary supplements to patients seeking prescriptions for controlling their blood pressure and cholesterol.

They will be prescribed to patients willing to take antibiotics, medications and proton pump hampers to combat various gastro-intestinal troubles.

Dr. Steve Hambleton, the President of Australian Medical Association (AMA) has apparently molested the agreement, claiming that there was no evident confirmation regarding the alleged benefits proffered by vitamin or daily- diet supplements.

"This is leveraging off the credibility of the pharmacist and suggests they (the products) add something", he added.

Dr. Hambleton claimed that the commercial curiosity of the Pharmacy Guild, which stands for nearly 90% of Australian pharmacists, must be forbidden for creating nuisance in the prospective approach of the grand trust grasped in pharmacists by doctors and the community.
