US carrier Verizon has join forces with South Korean manufacturer Samsung in its ongoing patent war against Apple.
Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple is seeking a ban on the sale of some Samsung devices in the US, claiming that they infringe on its patents. But, Verizon argues that any ban on the Samsung products will have negative effect on subscribers on its network.
In its filing against Apple's requested injunction, Verizon said that any such move would slow down the planned deployment of next-generation networks.
Complaining against Apple's requested injunction, Verizon said, "Such a loss in sales of 4G devices, in turn, undermines the business justification for continuing to expand Verizon Wireless's LTE network".
It may be noted here that two of the Verizon's four products running on its LTE network, are Samsung's Droid Charge and Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Apple and Samsung have long been suing and countersuing each other in a number of countries across the globe, including the US. Apple claims that Samsung's Galaxy smartphones and tablets copy its iPhone and iPad respectively. In response, Samsung has also launched patent lawsuits against Apple.
The total number of lawsuits filed by Apple and Samsung against each other has already reached 21, which reflect their hidden desire to dominate the fast-growing global gadgets market.
