A new report has notified that developed countries have been facing lot of problems in dealing with the cost of cancer care.
The report has been published in The Lancet Oncology which has revealed the viewpoints of 37 experts from developed nations which notifies managing cancer cost has become a burden for the countries.
The experts have stated that the cancer cost has reached to excess making it difficult for the health authorities. The cancer patients’ count is increasing with time which has resulted in increased cost for the treatment.
In the developed countries the GDP is distributed according to needs in the health sector and cancer care is requiring a large number of funds compared to other health related issues. The problem doesn’t stop at the amount of money being spent but the trouble is the rising cost that has been increasing with time.
According to experts, “We overdiagnose, overtreat, and overpromise. This extends from use of complex technology, surgery, and drugs to events related to the acceptance of treatment side-effects".
The report authors have notified that either the cost of services will have to be reduced or the services will have to be limited so that the problem can be solved.
