HIPPY Programme to Prepare Children for School

During last Friday, the Fairfield Public School witnessed presence of no less than 50 parents along with their kids to participate in the celebrations of the “Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters Week”.

While explaining about the event, the Coordinator of the HIPPY, Marta Bevilacqua said that the home based programs is free and outlined with a focus on efficiently assessing overall development of a child through providing best learning opportunities. "For example, basics like knowing how to spell and reading from left to right. Parents know what they have to do but they often don't know how to do it”, added Marta Bevilacqua.

Tutors from UnitingCare Burnside Cabramatta Multicultural Family Centre in collaboration with local families run the popular HIPPY as an attempt to prepare children for joining school.

The programs can be considered most beneficial particularly for children who are likely to experience complications in learning process. The program has succeeded to avail a grant of $7.7 million from the Government in order to support parents to teach their children at home.

The Administrative Coordinator of HIPPY, Judy Smith has appreciated its concept and said that it is a great learning experience for kids as well as their parents.
