Tech world is eagerly awaiting the much-rumored launch of Amazon's so-called Kindle tablet this Wednesday at a media event in New York.
Amazon, the world's most popular online retailer, hasn't confirmed any plan to introduce its potential Kindle tablet, but unexplained invitations for a press event on Wednesday, September 28th, in New York recently triggered rumors that the event would be used to unveil the Kindle.
The potential Kindle tablet will try to snatch market share from Apple's iPad, which currently dominates the global tablet market.
Amazon's full-color touchscreen tablet will run on a customized version of Google's admired Android, Apple's main rival operating system in the mobile devices market.
A number of experts have already predicted that Amazon's tablet would be will just be another Kindle, with a 7-inch touchscreen. However they added that it would cost considerably lower that the iPad. Various reports suggested that the Kindle tablet would start at around$250 as compared to the iPad's starting price tag of $499.
Apple's iPad has been enjoying the dominating position since its launch. In 2010, the iPad accounted for around 83 per cent of the global tablet sales. It will continue dominating the market this year too with an estimated 73.4 per cent share of the global media tablet sales.
