Breast Cancer Tends To Affect All Regardless Of Age

Breast-CancerBreast cancer, a miserable form of cancer, tends to affect women globally regardless of their age. Recently, a new research has examined mastectomy rates among breast cancer patients who have received preventive screening. Further, the Norwegian experts have compared this patient group with those who did not attempted to avail any screening test.

During the study, the lead study author, Pal Suhrke, a doctorate-candidate at Oslo Hospital, has examined more than 35,408 women aged between 40 and 79 living with persistent breast cancer or ductal carcinoma in situ in order to evaluate the rates of breast cancer surgery. All the subject females were observed to have surgical treatment between 1993 and 2008.

While commenting on the study, the Chairman of the American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Communications Committee, Dr. Carol Lee, said: "I would expect that women who were screened would have more cancers picked up, which would contribute to more surgery”.

Meanwhile, a different study complied with the help of 5,903 patients has revealed that mammography plays a vital role to detect the cancer at its initial stages and claimed that palpation patients are more likely to seek mastectomy as compared to those who had mammography.
