One of the rescued rare olive-green little turtle took its last breadth at Kelly Tarlton. Other seven are also in grim condition but are alive. It could not be known that what caused the death and how these little innocent species washed out from the sea.
But Christie, a PhD student, Christie was of the view that she would conduct necropsies on the turtle at Massey University and after that she would get to know that what led that harmless specie to die which already facing extinction in New Zealand.
Curator Andrew Christie was of the view that the olive colored turtle was suffering from bacterial infection which might had led to its death. This infection had made him really cold due to blockage in esophagus. He further affirmed that these turtles could remain unwell for months and then die.
For now they are clueless, but table could turn and researchers could be some help after Christie comes up the real cause of the death of the turtle.
Changing weather patterns leads these little turtles to come on the shore and they are helpless to go back in the deep water until a wave takes them there.
