The National Grid has taken delivery of 80 Ford Fiesta Edge ECOnetics, becoming the latest blue chip British organization to invest in the cheaper running costs of Ford Fiesta.
The Ford Fiesta Edge ECOnetics, which offers a combined fuel economy of 78.5 miles per gallon, and emits just 95 grams of CO2 per kilometer, will be given this year's recruits to the company's engineering training programmes that mingle academic study with on-&-off-the-job instruction.
David Morse, fleet operations manager, said that they chose the Fiesta ECOnetic cars as they fitted the bill perfectly.
Speaking on the topic, Morse said, "Our 'user-chooser' company car scheme was not appropriate for such a large number of new, young engineers. Ford was successful in the tender process and the Fiesta ECOnetic fitted the bill perfectly."
National Grid said it selected the Ford model because the vehicle offered benefits in value for money along with environmental advantages.
All of the 80 Ford ECOnetics offer Bluetooth connectivity and are fitted with optional Quickclear front windscreens.
