Bowel cancer is counted among the most perilous cancer in men and it has been found via Hong Kong study that almost 30% of healthy men could suffer from bowel tumor which could turn in to cancer.
In order to reach up to above conclusion, in total 3,343 people were diagnosed in Chinese University. Average age kept for the test was between 50 and 70 and colonoscopy was performed on them from May 2008 to June 2009 in which 29.5% showed symptoms of having tumor which would turn in cancer at later stage, while 0.5% had cancer.
This made them to reach at a statement that forms as a recommendation for the government to introduce bowel cancer screening for those who have crossed the age of 50. Screening would lead to early detection which in turn would save more lives. Screening is a safe method and has less complexities involved, said Professor Francis KL Chan from the Jockey Club Bowel Cancer Education Centre.
There is a severe need to take steps to control the increasing number of bowel cancer as this cancer comes second in the list of Hong Kong which makes men lose their life, as almost 1500 men die annually due to it.
