With the aim of mending the safety issue that has caused trouble for sales of some of the Toyota's most popular models, the supplier CTS, which creates accelerator pedals at the center of a massive recall by Toyota Motor is ramping up production of newly designed part.
As per the CTS Chief Executive Vinod Khilnani, a new design has been acquired as step one to the solution, which has been tested efficiently by CTS and Toyota.
Khilnani continued that the initial accelerator pedals were built by the company in accordance to the earlier specifications. The problems related to pedal sticking occurred due to condensation around the part which the automaker had not anticipated.
In a conference call with analysts, he said that the company constructed the pedal, "to their specifications and Toyota has concurred with that."
Khilnani specified that it has been some time since CTS is working to recreate an accelerator pedal for Toyota. The company is also looking into exclusive production lines to make the new part so that the automaker could move toward restarting its own production and sales.
