Mother milk is the best thing a mother can provide to her child and in order to celebrate that special bond a mother and child shares, the World Breastfeeding Week is being celebrated in Canada from October 1 to 7.
With theme of ‘Nourishing the Mind’ event organizer the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) has joined hands with two libraries and local communities who would provide places to organize 10th annual Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge. Association with libraries is meant to increase the knowledge of first time mother or of those who are expecting to know the ways she could breast feed her child.
Explaining the importance of community, VIHA's Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Richard Stanwick was of the view that for a healthy growth of child it is very important he should be in a healthy community as community is vital for a healthy family. Therefore, two important things have been chosen which are equally important for a child as well for a mother, as education is important for a mother and a healthy society for complete family.
This year’s challenge has an interesting twist as this time the hosts tries to create a world record by making many mothers breastfeed their child at the same time.
