After the recent upsurge in waiting time for patients at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital situated in Drogheda, authorities have urged the Health Information and Quality to look into the matter and find out what has caused the recent chaos in the hospital and why there has been a sudden rise in the number of cases.
According to a revelation, the hospital saw highest number of waiting patient trolleys for two consecutive days in the state. There were as many as 48 patients waiting on trolleys due to shortage of medical aid and beds. This sort of overcrowding hasn’t been witnessed in the area since a long time.
The situation has started worsening in the hospital since the beginning to this year. There have been long waiting lists and number of patients who had to go to other hospitals as they couldn’t be fitted in here for treatment.
This is obviously posed a threat on the safety and health care standards of the patients and it is hard to see if all patients here get the required treatment on time due to overcrowding. The authorities are of the view that something needs to be done about this soon, otherwise there might be serious adverse effects on this, and the patients might have to suffer.
