A new iPhone app is on its way that claims to improve vision and reading speed by training brain.
Developed by Ucansi, the GlassesOff app has been found capable of conditioning the brain to give a user the eyesight of a 10-year younger person.
On hitting 50 years of age, the lenses the eyes of a person become less supple, making it more difficult for him to focus on nearby objects. But, the GlassesOff app, groups of blurry lines become visible at various points across the screen, and the user becomes capable of identifying one of the lines when it appears in the centre.
Various trials, conducted by the University of California, Berkley, showed that volunteers were able to read two lines further down on an optical chart after the training. Eye-age was found slipped from 50.5 years to 41.9 years.
Ucansi co-founder Uri Polat said every single change takes place in brain and they are using the brain as glasses. However, he added that the app wouldn’t eradicate reading glasses.
Speaking on the topic, Polat added, “The software is unlikely to do away with reading glasses. It may, however, reduce the amount of time people need to wear them.”
The app, which will cost around £60 for a three-month training programme along with a monthly maintenance fee, is expected to come available in a few weeks.
