BT broadband customers who were affected by the meltdown took out their anger against the company in their Twitter posts --- while some users complained that their Internet service was down or running too slow, other criticized the company’s customer service department. The helpline was either was difficult to get through to, or the users were instructed to turn off their router and turn it on again.
Revealing the problem has been addressed, BT said that the broadband services for the “majority” of customers had already been restored. The company also added that the “brief outage” at the Birmingham exchange lasted for a "little more than an hour" for most customers.
Further stating that broadband service of some business customers may have been affected for “a slightly longer period,” BT said that its engineers were at the Birmingham site to tackle the problem, and that services will be restored to all the remaining customers “as soon as possible.”
