Insite Clinic Can Stay Open, Says Supreme Court

canadaOn Friday, the Supreme Court has directed that the controversial Insite clinic situated in Vancouver can remain open. "Insite saves lives. Its benefits have been proven. There has been no discernible negative impact on the public safety and health objectives of Canada during its eight years of operation”, added the ruling by Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin.

In addition, the Supreme Court has insisted that in case the Health Minister acknowledges requests for more freedom than she needs to practice her judgment as well as to establish equilibrium between defending public health and safety and charter rights.

On the other hand, during the question period Leona Aglukkaq has expressed disappointment over the Supreme Court verdict but notified to comply and emphasized on the need of a system that can regulate people against drug addiction.
