Obesity Causes Blood Pressure

Obesity Causes Blood PressureAccording to a research, children suffering from the condition of obesity are highly vulnerable to the problem of high blood pressure.

Various researchers have already proved that obesity increases the risk to diabetes, but the research conducted by Wanzhu Tu, from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, reveals that obese children were at a 30% higher risk to blood pressure troubles.

The researchers observed 1,111 students with an average age of 10.2 years for a period of 4.5 years. The researchers found that immediately after the children entered the overweight zone, the effect of the fat deposits on the blood pressure increased by 4 times in comparison to the children with appropriate weight.

The researchers took blood pressure readings of overweight children. Around 14% of the recordings were under influence of hypertension, whereas only 5% of BP recordings of the children with balanced weight were influenced with hypertension.

The researchers found that the hormone leptin regulated the weight and metabolism rate of the body. The researchers found leptin as component that can control the condition, but the biology of its functioning is yet to be known. Therefore, the researchers concluded that even minor reduction in the weight resulted in overall health of children.
