Oracle announces an array of cloud services

Oracle announces an array of cloud servicesTech giant Oracle Corp’s chief executive Larry Ellison newly announced the company’s cloud service, viz. Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management and Oracle Fusion Talent Management.

The announcement of cloud services was a U-turn in Ellison’s outlook towards cloud as several years back he had mocked cloud computing when an analyst had asked him what his strategy would be for expanding into the cloud services area.

But, now Oracle launched the cloud services as the company lags far behind Amazon. com Inc and Salesforce. com Inc in the field of cloud.

Announcing the services, Ellison said, “If we have a suite of applications running in a cloud, I guess we need a cloud," Ellison said with a big grin. “When ya need a cloud, ya need a cloud. Ours is a bit different.”

Oracle’s new cloud offerings include software for handling tasks like sales & human resources, a database, security technology as well as a platform for writing Web apps with the company’s popular Java software.

Oracle claimed that programs and data that the company hosts on its cloud could easily be shifted to a customer's own data center or Amazon. com Inc's rival cloud.

The tech giant declared that the "Oracle Public Cloud" wouldn’t be compatible with rival Salesforce. com’s web-based offerings.
