Samsung postpones Nexus Prime’s launch due to Steve Jobs’ death

Samsung postpones Nexus Prime’s launch due to Steve Jobs’ death With the apparent intention of not to be seen as disturbing the reactions around the death of the Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, Samsung has unexpectedly put off the next-Tuesday-scheduled launch of its high-end smartphone - the Nexus Prime.

The announcement pertaining to the postponement of the Nexus Prime's launch by Samsung - which happens to be Apple's foremost competitor; and is involved in several legal scuffles with Apple - came soon after Apple announced that Jobs had passed away at his California home late Wednesday.

According to The Guardian, unnamed sources aware of the happenings at Samsung confirmed on Friday that the South Korean company felt that it was not right on its part to hold a new product launch within days of Steve Jobs' death. The postponement of Nexus Prime's launch is not connected to any software or hardware problems around the handset.

It was at the CTIA trade show on Tuesday that Samsung was scheduled to release its Nexus Prime smartphone, which is powered by the most recent edition of Google's Android operating system - Android version 4.0 or `Ice Cream Sandwich.'

In its brief statement about the postponement of Nexus Prime's launch, Samsung said on Friday that the company, along with Google, felt that "it is just not the right time to announce a new product." The statement also said that the new date and venue of the Nexus Prime launch will be announced "shortly."
