Two held after raid on Apple Store in London

Two held after raid on Apple Store in London In connection with the smash-and-grab incident that took place at the Apple Store in Covent Garden, London, on Monday, the police have nabbed two people - a man aged 21, and a boy aged 16 - on the suspicion of robbery.

The incident - which apparently involved seven masked raiders riding motorcycles and mopeds - took place at around 1:15am BST, when the raiders smashed one the windows of the store, and stole Apple devices costing thousands of pounds.

Even though the exact value of the merchandise the thieves took away is yet to be officially ascertained, TheNextWeb has reported that they fled off with a haul of iPhones, iPads, and MacBook laptops.

According to the police, which was called shortly after the burglary, the two suspects were arrested at a block of flats close by; and a moped which was seemingly used for the robbery was found in St John Street in Clerkenwell, central London.

In order to arrest the raiders, who were all wearing full-face crash helmets, detectives investigating the incident are seeking help from people who may have seen the suspects.

Meanwhile, in an account of the incident, an Apple aficionado Robert Shoesmith, who was camping out for the iPhone 4S and was sleeping outside the store, said in a blog post: "Woke up to hear a load of motor bikes zoom in and then a smash and grab. Alarm going off and police have just got here!"
