The advancements in the field of medicine has resulted in finding successful treatments for breast cancer, but the survivors despite being treated completely need to be cautious about the disease throughout life.
Even after spending billions on conducting research to come up with successful and assured treatment for breast cancer, the survivors have to go through a lot of health problems. Patients who had been through treatments of breast cancer 10 to 15 years back were facing problems like cardiovascular problems, nerve damage, osteoporosis and risk to other forms of cancer. Also, the threat of the reversion of disease evolves for a while, but with time this problem comes to an end.
According to a recent survey on survivors of breast cancer, 90% of them had experienced some kind of physical, mental or even troubles at the level of society ranging from minor to major ones. The survey emphasized on the need to provide the survivors of the cancer with better guidance for the life ahead.
So far, only 10% of the breast cancer survivors have been provided with the "survivorship care plan" which had been formulated in accordance with the medical records of the survivor. The guidance comprises of recommendations about adaption of the form of lifestyle, the precautions that is required to be taken and which center should be approached to access the follow-up care.
