Orange customers in the UK will be able to use T-Mobile's 3G network and vice versa, starting next week, Everything Everywhere confirmed.
Everything Everywhere, a joint venture between France Telecom's Orange and Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile, announced that the two carriers would share their 3G networks to allow their combined customer-based of 27 million people to enjoy faster web connectivity and data downloads.
The move, 'big 3G switch-on', which will be rolled out on a region by region basis starting next week, will improve 3G coverage while a customer of any of the two carriers is out and about.
Last year, Orange and T-Mobile announced 'big switch-on' to allow their customers to use both networks to send texts and make phone calls.
Olaf Swantee, chief executive of Everything Everywhere, said that the move would ensure more things to more customers in more places across the country.
Speaking on the topic, Swantee said, "This is a significant achievement and demonstrates the latest milestone in our network vision and customer promise - to provide more things, to more people in more places than any other company in Britain."
A few days back, Everything Everywhere announced its partnership with BT Wholesale to initiate a 4G trial in Cornwall.
