Drop In Food Price Index Trims Down Food Prices

Drop In Food Price Index Trims Down Food PricesWhile rising inflation is causing governments across the world to mull over the future of economy, here comes a government data, which indicates that reasonable prices of in-season vegetables and fruits have trim down the food cost. It was told in the report that in September, the food price index dropped by 1%, which indicates that though paltry, the prices were nosedived in September.

"The September fall in fruit and vegetable prices is the largest since a fall of 10.2 per cent in February 2006", said the government department, while claiming that the current prices are nearly 19% low from their highest-ever recorded level in July 2011.

As the prices of pasta products tumbled down by 2.7%, it was seen that price of grocery food items dropped by 0.2% last month, and even price fall experienced by products such as bread also pushed the prices down.

However, there were certain exceptions, as it was seen that prices of meat, poultry and fish prices rose by 0.3% in September and the non-alcoholic drinks moved up by 1.3% and thus, cost of meals in restaurants also faced a high of 0.2%.

It's being believed that if food prices remain within limits then the scar of inflation which is pinching the pockets of tax payers for so long could be beaten.

While the report is making reverberations in the contours of the society, its being largely claimed that if the snail paced rise of food prices persists, the percolating concerns of inflation would soon be managed.
