Mahindra & Mahindra Halts Booking for XUV500The overwhelming response of Mahindra & Mahindra’s XUV500 has pushed the car manufacturer to put a halt on further bookings. However, it has not been revealed as to when the booking will reopen. The XUV500 is at present available in the stores of Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Pune.

A halt on bookings was imposed on October 11 by the company. It has been informed that within ten days, the company has received a booking of 8,000 cars. The car is being sold under the price tag of Rs 10.8 to 11.95 lakh. The booking for the car was begun on October 1.

It has been informed that the XUV500 is a sports utility car. Since the company has received large number of bookings in first two weeks of its launch, the company has decided not to open showrooms at new locations.

The XUV500 has diesel engine with capacity of 2.2-litres. The company is planning to raise its monthly production so that the local demand could be met with. The company is aiming at producing 3,000 cars till January and another 5,000 till June.

It has come to light that the XUV500 car has been designed by Chennai-based research team. A unit of Mahindra & Mahindra’s XUV500 has also been established in the South Africa. After meeting the demand of the local market, the firm will be addressing to the international demands.
