The Porsche 911, which has been described as a technical masterpiece by Porsche president & chief executive Matthias Muller, comes in two variants, viz. Carrera and Carrera S.
The engine of new model has been reduce in size 3.6 to 3.4 litres as a reduction of 4mm has been made in piston stroke. Power has increased from 340bhp at 6500rpm to 345bhp from 7400rpm, but torque remained the same at 288lb ft.
Consumption of fuel has jumped from 27mpg to settle at 31mpg, while carbon emissions slipped from 242g per kilometer to 212g per kilometer.
As far as 3.8-litre engine-equipped Carrera S is concerned, power has increased from 380bhp at 6500rpm to settle at 395bhp at 7400rpm, while torque jumped from 310lb ft to 325lb ft.
With the manual gearbox, the Carrera S offers 30mpg and 224g per kilometer, an improvement from 27mpg and 250g per kilometer.
The Carrera comes equipped with Porsche Stability Management system, auto climate control, leather seats, bi-xenon headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen with sat-nav, and MP3 compatibility.
The Carrera S adds 20-inch alloy wheels, Porsche Active Suspension Management & Porsche Torque Vectoring with either with a manual gearbox or electronically actuated locking differential.
The Carrera has been priced at £71,449, while the Carrera S costs £81,242 in the UK.
