It has been revealed, according to a recent study, that the surgery for Epilepsy might be able to show positive results in the time to come.
This study has been conducted by the team from the University College from London. It was found that out of the people who had opted for surgery for seizures, were able to be free from the disease over a span of 10 years. For the same study, tests were conducted on as many as 615 people suffering from the condition since past eight years or so.
Though experts have warned that there is need for being realistic about the sort of results these surgeries might give. One cannot expect an epilepsy patient to be completely cured in a jiffy, and it takes prolonged efforts by the patient as el ad the doctors to cure his disease fully.
Each patient is a different case and they need to be treated as individuals and their recovery cannot be measured by the same standards.
The crux of the report is that surgery might help in curing the disease over time. Surgery might be a good way to help the disease and should be considered by patients.
"Surgery used to be offered to someone having three or four seizures a month. Now it could be offered to someone having one seizure a month, who is in employment but who is experiencing side-effects from the drugs”, said Professor John Duncan the director of the Epilepsy Society.
