Binge drinking is not something new to be heard of and that’s what the government is keen on taking up now, as it has made up mind to take stern action against those who are pulling people’s attention towards alcohol.
Instigating alcohol consumption is what calls for the government to come forward to take on all those companies which are doing advertising campaigns for promoting alcohol. Deciphering the severity of the issue, its being largely believed that the Welsh Government is mulling the option to strike a minimum price for a single unit of alcohol.
It has been known and even statistics also show that advertisements do play a significant role in boosting the sale of alcohol, which substantiates the claims that by putting checks on advertisements a lot could be done to bring down the rate of drinking.
"While the UK Government's recent proposal to ban sales below the cost of duty is a small step in the right direction, we believe it does not go far enough”, said Health Minister Lesley Griffiths, while ensuring that the government is keen on addressing the concern.
If reports are to be believed, nearly 13,000 people in a single year in Wales encounter accidents due to alcohol and that’s what make the situation even more worrisome for the government to manage.
If that was not enough, it has been found that the total cost incurred due to alcohol has touched the mark of £85 million in a single year.
