The Range Rover Evoque won the 2011 Scottish Car of the Year Award at the gala event that took place at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow.
Before being announced as the best car overall, the luxury Range Rover Evoque was named as the best car in its SUV/Crossover category at the same event.
This year's category winners were drawn from a long string of categories including Family, Executive, Estate, MPV, SUV/Crossover, Drop Top, Sports, Diesel, Electric and Eco.
The Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) awarded the titles, taking the vehicle's performance, appearance and popularity amongst consumers.
Naming the Range Rover Evoque as the best car of the year, Murdoch said, "One car stood out from all the others with its stylish good looks, sound packaging, fine driving dynamics and desirability and the Range Rover Evoque is a worthy winner of the Scottish Car of the Year title."
Land Rover's global director John Edwards said that they felt very proud to see the Evoque win the 2011 Scottish Car of the Year Award.
With around twenty thousand pre-orders for it, the Range Rover Evoque will provide much-needed support to the UK economy.
