Free sms to ensure healthy pregnancy for women

healthy-pregnancyTo reduce the number of babies being born prematurely and dying before turning one, pregnant women will receive sms that would inform them about steps to ensure a healthy pregnancy.

Syniverse Technologies would send messages free of cost; this service would be for new mothers too. The recently launched text4baby initiative is delivering text messages free of charge. It is an educational program of the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB).

Syniverse along with Voxiva will provide this service. Voxiva will provide the mobile healthcare platform. Major U. S. mobile operators have been roped in to deliver this service free of cost to registered users.

Tony Holcombe, President and CEO, Syniverse, said, "Each year in the United States, more than 500,000 babies are born prematurely and an estimated 28,000 children die before their first birthday. By joining the text4baby initiative, we hope to make a difference and drive down these dismal statistics."

Three free messages would be provided every week. For making the content, mother's due date for prenatal information or the baby's birth date would be taken into consideration. Women can register for the programme by texting BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) to 511411.
