Due to falling of tree on him, a forestry worker suffered spinal and neck injuries. He was later evacuated by his co-workers, who cut the tree into sections, and took him out.
He was working at the Kaingaroa Forest, which is in the south of Rotorua, and the forest place is quite steep. After he got evacuated, a Taupo Rescue Helicopter was called in to fly him to Waikato Hospital as otherwise; he would not have got timely treatment due to steep terrain.
After receiving first aid, he was found conscious, but in pain.
